When a visitor is admitted, HyoNova opens a visit session for that person. The session is what the Visitor Pass pays for: it has its own length, it survives reloads and reconnections, and it ends on its own.

How long a visit lasts#

In Company administration › Visitors & Events › Visitor links, the host chooses a purpose and a visit length for the link. Choosing a purpose suggests a length, which the host can change:

Visit lengthSuggested for
2 hoursClient, sales, support, interview, candidate, office tour, general visit — and every other purpose (vendor, partner, investor, onboarding, training, other)
4 hoursEvent
8 hoursA full day
Custom1 to 8 hours

Guest links created in People › Guests or Settings › Workspace carry no visit length of their own: their visits use the company's default visit length, which owners, admins and managers set in Visitor settings (2 hours unless changed). Event visits use the event's visit length.

A link valid for 7 days can admit visitors on any of those days, and each admitted visitor gets their own session. A session never outlives its link, and an event visit never outlives its event: the visit ends at whichever comes first — the visit length, the link's expiry or the event's end.

Re-entry is free#

During a session the visitor can:

  • reload the page or close and reopen the tab in the same browser;
  • lose the connection and come back;

and they return as the same visitor, in the same visit, with no new pass. Several people using one link are always separate visitors with separate sessions and passes.

A new pass is used only for a new visit: after the visitor selected Leave, after the session ended, or when they come back another day with a new admission.

How a visit ends#

EndingWhat happens
The visitor leavesThey select Leave; their link to this visit stops working at once.
The host ends itEnd visit from the visits list removes them now.
Time is upThe session reaches its length (or the link's or event's end). HyoNova ends it automatically and removes the visitor.
The link is revokedEveryone inside with that link is removed.
The event endsEvery visitor of the event leaves. See Events.
Emergency stopEvery Office and Event Visitor leaves at once. See Privacy and security.

When the visit ends, the visitor's page says so within about 15 seconds: Your visit time has ended. Thank you for visiting. when time is up, and Your visit has ended. when the host, the link, the event or the emergency stop ended it.

Ending a visit never refunds its pass, except when the visitor was admitted but never reached the world (see Visitor Passes). The visit stays in the company's visit history.
