Moving around the office
Walk, run, double-click to move, sit, switch between three camera views and get to rooms quickly in the HyoNova office.
On this page
You move through the HyoNova office with your character. Walking is how you show up next to someone, enter a meeting room or sit down at a desk, so it is worth a minute to learn the controls. Everyone who can enter an office — members, guests and trial visitors — uses the same controls.
Walk and run#
- Press W A S D or the arrow keys to walk.
- Hold Shift while moving to run.
- Walls, furniture and closed doors stop you, as they would in a real office.
Keys only move your character when you are not typing. While you write in a search box or a message field, the letters go into the text.
Double-click to move#
Double-click a spot on the floor and your character walks there on its own. While it walks, a prompt shows Walking to your destination with Press Esc or use WASD to stop. Press Esc or any movement key to take over again.
Camera views#
HyoNova has three views. The office opens in Isometric view.
| View | What you see | Mouse |
|---|---|---|
| Isometric | The floor from above, with walls cut away so you can see into rooms. | Drag with the left button to pan, drag with the right button to rotate, use the wheel to zoom. |
| Third person | The office from behind your character. | Drag to look around. |
| First person | The office through your character's eyes. | Drag to look around. |
To change the view:
- Press V to switch to the next view.
- Or open More in the bottom bar and choose Choose a view.
- Or use the camera button next to Center on me in the lower corner of the screen.
- Or open Settings › World view › Perspective.
Two buttons in the lower corner help when you lose your bearings: Center on me brings the view back to your character, and Reset view also resets rotation and zoom. When you start walking, the view follows you again by itself.
In Settings › World view you can also set Turn speed (how fast the view turns when you drag) and Zoom speed (how far each turn of the mouse wheel zooms). Reduce motion in Accessibility makes camera moves instant.
Sit and stand#
- Walk up to a chair or sofa. When you are close enough, a small bubble appears with Sit down and the E key (or a prompt with Take a seat).
- Sit. Press E or select Sit down. Your character takes the seat and the prompt changes to Stand up.
- Stand up. Press E again, or simply start walking.
In a live office, seats are shared: if a colleague is already sitting there, you see Someone is already using this seat. When you sit at a desk as a member, Your work appears so you can open your tasks. See Work in the world.
Get to a room quickly#
The fastest way to reach a room depends on where you are:
| Action | Live office | Trial (Demo) |
|---|---|---|
| Go there on a room in the map | Your character walks along a route to the room's entrance. | Same. |
| Teleport on a room in the map | Not available. HyoNova asks you to walk to the room entrance. | Moves you into the room immediately. |
| A room in search or on the minimap | Not available. Use the map and Go there, or walk. | Moves you into the room immediately. |
| Return to reception in search | Not available. Walk to the reception. | Moves you back to the arrival point. |
In a live office, the server accepts only walking movement, so everyone sees where people really are and nobody appears inside a room without walking through its door. Go there walks on the same floor; if no clear route exists, HyoNova tells you so and you can walk there yourself.
The same applies to people. In a live office, reach a colleague by walking over: Go to on a nameplate or in search cannot move you across the office, because the server accepts only walking movement. The map shows where everyone is. See Map and search.
Doors#
In a live office, doors are shared: when someone opens a door, everyone sees it open. Walk up to a door and press E or select Open door. In the trial, doors open automatically as you approach. See Seats, doors and screens.
Tips#
- Lost? Press M to show the minimap, or select Explore map for the full map with rooms and people.
- Press Esc to close whatever is open. When nothing is open, Esc opens Settings.
- Movement feels slow on an older computer? Lower Settings › Graphics quality, or choose the Auto quality preset, which lowers detail when movement starts to stutter.
All keys are listed in Keyboard shortcuts.
Status#
| Feature | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Movement and camera views | AvailableWorks today for workspaces whose plan includes it. | Walk with the keyboard or double-click to move, run, sit, and switch between three views. |
