For managers

The reading path for managers — run projects on the board and timeline, hand out work, follow team workload and reports, host meetings and invite guests.

As a Manager you lead work and meetings. You can create and edit projects, build project teams, assign tasks to anyone, see your team's workload and the Work reports, host meetings with full controls and invite visitors with guest links. You don't see finance records or customer records, and you can't invite members or change roles — owners and admins do that.

What you'll do#

  • Plan projects with milestones, tasks and dependencies, and hand out the work.
  • Run the work on the board, timeline and calendar.
  • See who carries how much in Work › Team, and what is late or blocked under Needs attention on Home.
  • Follow delivery in Reports: tasks completed, on-time rate and projects at risk.
  • Host meetings: let people in, present, and turn decisions into tasks.
  • Bring visitors into the office with guest links.

Your path#

  1. Work overview — the pages of Work, permissions and notifications.
  2. Manage a project from start to finish — team, milestones, tasks, dependencies, board and closing.
  3. Projects — the project workspace, milestones and linking a project to an office room.
  4. Tasks — My Work, the task centre, bulk changes, the task panel and @mentions.
  5. Views and planning — board, flow, timeline, calendar, team workload and goals.
  6. Reports — Work reports and the company metrics you can see.
  7. Work in the world — Quick Work, project rooms and the board on a room's screen.
  8. Run your first meeting — host controls, screen sharing, notes and action items.
  9. Meetings — scheduling, roles in a meeting and limits.
  10. Manage guest access — guest links for visitors.

Good habits#

  • Give every task one clear owner and a due date, so My Work and the reminders are useful.
  • Use dependencies instead of comments like "wait for X": the waiting task shows Waiting on, and its owner is told when it is ready.
  • Look at Team before you assign more work, and at Attention needed in Reports before your weekly review.
