Connect your store
Connect WordPress, WooCommerce or Shopify to Hyo Mail — sign-up forms with double opt-in, and customer, order and product sync — and what each connection needs.
On this page
Hyo Mail connects to the places where your customers already are. Mail › Settings › Integrations shows one card per connection — WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, REST API and Webhooks — with its status. Details on a card explains what moves, in which direction and with which permissions.
| Connection | What it does | How it connects |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress | Sign-up forms with double opt-in on your site | The Hyo Mail plugin and an API key |
| WooCommerce | Customers, orders and products from your store | The same plugin, with signed WooCommerce webhooks and an incremental export |
| Shopify | Customers, orders and products from your store | Approve HyoNova's Shopify app from Mail, with read-only access |
Consent is never assumed#
A connection is technical only. A synced customer becomes subscribed — and can receive marketing email — only when the store sends an explicit marketing opt-in:
- WooCommerce: the opt-in checkbox the plugin can add at checkout and on the registration form, or a known newsletter opt-in field.
- Shopify: the customer's email marketing consent is "subscribed" in Shopify.
Everyone else is synced as pending and receives no marketing email until they confirm. WordPress users are never imported as subscribers. Orders and transactional email are not affected by consent.
Who can connect#
Connecting and disconnecting a store needs Mail administration — by default Owners and Admins. Creating the API key for the plugin needs the same.
WordPress and WooCommerce#
Requirements#
- WordPress 6.2 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. For the store sync, WooCommerce 7.0 or later.
- PHP with OpenSSL, so the plugin can store your API key encrypted.
- An API key with the scopes
mail.integrations.writeandmail.events.read. Every plan includes the API.
Install and connect#
- Download the plugin. Download hyonova-mail-wordpress.zip.
- Install it. In WordPress, go to Plugins › Add New › Upload Plugin, choose the file and select Install Now, then Activate.
- Create an API key. In Hyo Mail, open Mail › Automations › API keys, choose New API key, tick
mail.integrations.writeandmail.events.read, and copy the key. See Mail API. - Paste the key. In WordPress, open the plugin's settings page (Settings › HyoNova Mail), paste the key into API key and choose Connect. When the key is accepted, the page shows your company name, the key's scopes and the last check. Leave API origin as it is (
https://api.hyonova.com).
The key is pasted once and stored encrypted with your site's wp-config.php salts. It is never shown again. If OpenSSL is missing, the settings page says that the key is only encoded, not encrypted; ask your host to enable OpenSSL.
Add a sign-up form#
- Create a form in Mail › Contacts › Forms. Double opt-in is recommended. See Contacts and audience.
- In WordPress, the plugin's settings page lists your active forms with their shortcode.
- Add the form to a page with the shortcode
[hyonova_mail_form id="FORM_ID"]or with the HyoNova Mail Form block.
Only what a visitor types into the form is sent to HyoNova. With double opt-in, the person is added to your audience only after they confirm by email.
Connect WooCommerce#
- Set the opt-in checkbox. On the plugin's settings page, under WooCommerce, turn on Consent checkbox to show an opt-in at checkout and on the registration form, and review the Checkbox text.
- Connect. Choose Connect WooCommerce. The plugin creates signed webhooks for orders, customers and products and sends a signed verification ping.
- Wait for the ping. The WooCommerce card in Hyo Mail turns Connected only after HyoNova verifies that ping. The plugin then exports your existing customers, orders and products in batches.
What leaves your store: the customer's name, email, billing company, phone and country and the opt-in flag; the order ID, status, total, currency, dates and billing email; the product ID, name, short description, link, price, stock status and image address. Nothing else — no passwords and no other user data.
Orders feed campaign revenue attribution. Products can be used in product blocks and by the AI designer.
Export now on the plugin's settings page runs the export again. In Hyo Mail, Sync now on the connected card asks the plugin to export on its next hourly check.
Disconnect#
Disconnect WooCommerce in the plugin removes the webhooks it created and the store secret. Disconnect on the WordPress connection removes the API key from your site; forms stop accepting sign-ups until a key is pasted again. Contacts already in Hyo Mail keep their current consent.
Shopify#
- Open the card. In Mail › Settings › Integrations, choose Connect on Shopify.
- Enter your store. Enter your store domain, for example
your-store.myshopify.com, and choose Connect. - Approve at Shopify. Shopify asks you to approve read-only access — products, customers and orders. You then come back to Mail, and the first sync runs in the background.
After that, new and changed customers, new and paid orders, and product changes arrive through signed Shopify webhooks, and the catalogue is kept in sync. HyoNova verifies every Shopify webhook and ignores duplicates.
Disconnect in the connection's details removes the webhooks from your store. Contacts already in Hyo Mail keep their current consent.
Follow a connection#
Open a connected card to see the Store, Last successful sync, Last error and what has been Synced so far (contacts, products and order events), with Sync logs and Recent events. When a sync or webhook fails, the card shows Error: fix the cause — the store must be reachable and its credentials valid — then sync again or reconnect.
Build your own#
For other systems, use the Mail API to create contacts with their consent and record orders, and Webhooks to receive contact and order events.
