Set up HyoNova for your team
From sign-up to your first meeting and project — create your company, choose an office, set up your profile, invite your team and allow guests.
On this page
This tutorial takes you from nothing to a working HyoNova company: an office your team can enter, colleagues with the right roles, guest access if you want it, a first meeting and a first project. Follow the parts in order. Each part links to a more detailed tutorial or guide if you want to go deeper.
What you need#
- A desktop browser with WebGL, on a screen at least 600 pixels wide.
- An email address and a password of at least 8 characters.
- The names and work email addresses of the colleagues you want to invite.
- A microphone if you want to talk in the first meeting. A camera is optional.
You become the Owner of the company you create. Everything in this tutorial is available to owners; admins can do every part except creating the company itself.
Part 1: Create your company#
- Open the sign-up page. Go to https://app.hyonova.com/sign-up.
- Fill in the form. Enter Your name, your Work email, a Password (at least 8 characters) and your Company name.
- Create it. Choose Create company. HyoNova creates the company, makes you its Owner and opens the welcome steps.
Part 2: Set up your profile and character#
The welcome steps start with you.
- Your profile. Check your Display name — the name colleagues see on your nameplate and in lists — and choose Next.
- Your character. Pick one of the ten starting looks, such as Business, Developer, Executive or Casual, and choose Next. You can change clothes and details later in the office.
- Microphone and camera. Optionally choose Check microphone and camera to see whether your browser can use them, then choose Next. Skipping the check, or a failed check, never blocks you.
Part 3: Choose your office#
The Your office world step creates the office your team works in. Only owners and admins see it.
- Pick a template. Each card shows a template's recommended team size, capacity and number of rooms. There are twelve templates, from Café Office for small teams to Company Campus for large ones.
- Name the office. Change World name if you want. It starts as your company name followed by "HQ".
- Create it. Choose Create office. When you see Your office is ready., choose Next.
Worlds used under the form shows how many office worlds your plan allows and how many you have created.
Part 4: Invite your team#
The Invite your team step lets you invite colleagues right away. You can also do this later from People.
- Enter a colleague's details. Type their Full name and Their work email.
- Choose a role. In Role, pick Employee for most people. Choose Manager for team leads and Admin only for people who will run the company with you.
- Create the invitation. Choose Create invitation link. Copy the link straight away — it is shown only once.
- Repeat for each colleague, then choose Enter HyoNova.
HyoNova also tries to email the invitation. If a colleague does not receive the email, send the copied link yourself. The full process, including what your colleague sees, is in Invite your first team.
Part 5: Enter your office#
Enter HyoNova takes you into the office you created. Try the basics:
- Walk with W A S D or the arrow keys, or double-click the floor to walk there.
- Press V to switch between the isometric, third-person and first-person views.
- Press Ctrl + K to search for rooms, people and commands.
- Select My character on the left rail to change clothes, hair and other details.
See Navigation and Your character for more.
Part 6: Allow guests (optional)#
Guests are visitors without a company account, such as clients or candidates. They are switched off until an owner or admin allows them.
- Open Settings. In the company workspace, open Settings. In the office, open the Company menu from the logo at the top of the left rail and choose Settings.
- Allow guests. Under Guests in office worlds, choose Allow guests. The status changes to Guests allowed.
To create a guest link, choose how long it stays valid and revoke it, follow Manage guest access.
Part 7: Hold your first meeting#
Once a colleague has joined, meet in one of your office's meeting rooms.
- Walk to a meeting room. Open the map with M and choose Rooms, or search for the room with Ctrl + K.
- Choose Meet here. Near the room's door, or from the room in the map, choose Meet here, then Meet here again in the panel that opens.
- Create the meeting. Choose New meeting, give it a Meeting title, tick your colleague under Invite colleagues and choose Create meeting.
- Start it. Choose Join with microphone and camera off, then let your colleague in when they arrive.
Meetings are in beta and need the media service HyoNova provides. The full walkthrough — admitting people, sharing your screen, turning notes into tasks and ending the meeting — is in Run your first meeting.
Part 8: Create your first project#
- Open Work. In the company workspace, select Work. In the office, select Work on the left rail.
- Create a project. Under Projects, enter a Name, optionally choose a Due date, and choose New project.
- Add a task. Under Tasks, enter a Name, choose your new project in Project, set a Priority and a Due date, pick someone in Assign to, and choose New task.
To take the project through to completion, follow Manage a project from start to finish.
What you have now#
- A company with you as Owner.
- An office your team can enter from their browser.
- Invitations on their way to your colleagues, each with a role.
- Guest access, if you switched it on.
- A first meeting and a first project with a task.
