Rooms give your office its shape. Each room has a name, a type and a capacity, and the type decides what the room offers — a meeting room lets you start a meeting on the spot, a desk area gives you quick access to your work, and the reception welcomes people as they arrive.

Templates also contain department areas, training rooms and showrooms. Training rooms offer Meet here as well. When you draw a room in the office builder, you choose from meeting, workspace, social, executive, focus and lobby.

Capacity#

Every room has a capacity. You see it on the map and in search as N seats, together with how many people are here now. In a live office, the server keeps to it: when a room is full, you cannot enter and HyoNova shows This room is full.

Spatial voice also follows rooms: people inside a room hear each other, and voice never crosses a room's walls. See Proximity and voice.

Meet in a room#

Meeting, focus and training rooms let members start a meeting exactly where they stand. The meeting is linked to the room you are in, so people who walk in can find it, and a screen shared in the meeting appears on the screens in that room.

  1. Walk into the meeting room. Use the map and Go there, or walk. When you are inside, a card near the bottom of the screen shows the room name, its seats and Meet here.
  2. Select Meet here. The Meetings sheet opens beside the office with the room name and Start or join a meeting in this room. Select Meet here again.
  3. Start or join. In Meetings & calls, join the meeting that is already running in the room, or create a New meeting. A meeting you create while standing in the room is linked to it.

You can also find Meet here when you select a meeting room on the map or stand at its door. The meeting still links to the room you are standing in, so walk in first.

Meetings need the media service that HyoNova provides and are in Beta. See Meetings for hosting, waiting rooms, notes and files.

Doors#

Rooms have doors in their walls. When you walk up to one, a bubble shows the room name, Open, the number of seats and who is here now, with these actions:

  • Open door (or E) opens the door.
  • Go there moves you into the room in the trial. In a live office, walk through the door instead.
  • Meet here appears at meeting, focus and training rooms, for members.

In a live office, doors are shared: when anyone opens a door, everyone sees it open. In the trial, doors open automatically as you approach.

Answering knock requests#

HyoNova's server can treat a room as knock-to-enter. When someone knocks on such a room, owners, admins and managers who are in the office receive the request in Notifications, shown as name asks to enter · room, with Accept and Deny. A request expires after two minutes.

Today the product has no setting to make a room knock-to-enter or private and no knock button, so most offices never receive these requests.
