Seats, doors, screens and the scratchpad

The office is furnished like a real one, and some of that furniture does something. You can sit on chairs and sofas, open doors and look at screens. For your own notes there is a personal scratchpad. This page explains each one and what is not available yet.

How to use an object#

Walk up to an object you can use. When you are close enough, a small bubble shows the object's name, the room it is in and its action with the E key. Press E or select the action. If no bubble is visible, a prompt with E appears at the bottom of the screen instead.

Seats#

Sitting shows where you are and what you are doing: colleagues see you at your desk, in a meeting room chair or on a lounge sofa.

• In a live office, one person can sit on a seat at a time. If it is taken, you see Someone is already using this seat.
• When a member sits down at a desk, Your work appears. It opens your Work area beside the office. See Work in the world.
• Moving with the keyboard stands you up.

Seats are not assigned to people today. Anyone may sit anywhere that is free. Assigned and bookable desks are planned; see Work in the world.

Doors#

Rooms have doors. Walk up to one and press E or select Open door.

• In a live office, doors are shared. When one person opens a door, everyone in the office sees it open.
• In the trial, doors open automatically as you approach and close behind you.

Screens#

Screens in the office — on walls, in meeting rooms and at the reception — show your company's display. Walk up to a screen and press E to open it: the card shows the company name, the screen's title, and the number of rooms and floors in the office.

Screens become live during a meeting. When a meeting is linked to a room (for example because you started it with Meet here), and someone in it shares their screen:

• the shared screen appears on the screens in that room, for people who are in the room and admitted to the meeting;
• View screen shows the presentation with the presenter's name, Live presentation and a Full screen button.

If nothing is being shared, View screen says No presentation is being shared in this room. with Open meetings. Screen sharing is part of meetings, which are in Beta and need the media service HyoNova provides. See Meetings.

Personal scratchpad#

The scratchpad is a quick sketch pad for your own ideas while you are in the office.

What to know:

• The scratchpad is saved only on this device, in this browser. Colleagues cannot see it, and it does not follow you to another computer.
• Each office has its own sketch, which keeps up to 200 strokes.
• Everyone who can enter an office can use it, including guests and trial visitors.

Whiteboards#

Whiteboards you see in office templates are decoration today: you cannot draw on them.

Permissions#

Everyone in the office — members, guests and trial visitors — can sit, open doors, view screens and use the scratchpad. Seeing a shared screen on a room display requires being in that room and admitted to the meeting linked to it. Adding, moving or removing furniture is done in the office builder by owners and admins.
